DENVER – CU Denver alumni, administrators and well wishers turned out in cowboy boots and western wear on Feb. 17 for this year’s Rock Bottom Ruckus, and they raised $40,000 for student scholarships.
Each year, the CU Denver Alumni Office partners with the Rock Bottom Brewery on Denver’s 16th Street Mall for the festive fundraising event that was started more than 20 years ago. The restaurant closes the doors to the public for the evening’s festivities and provides the appetizers, three course meal, wine and beer.
A range of donated items and services are showcased in a silent auction. Great finds on the auction block included certificates to local restaurants, trips and wines. Proceeds from the evening’s auction and dinner all go to fund student scholarships. Since the inception of the Rock Bottom Ruckus and other fundraisers, the Alumni Association has distributed a total of $1,200,000 in scholarships.
