Mix and Lark take top prizes
DENVER – Two music groups out of CU Denver’s College of Arts & Media took the stage and won the top two awards again this year at the Mile High Vocal Jam this past weekend.
With another magical performance, Mix took first again this year, then fellow CU Denver students performing as Lark (formerly the 9th Street Singers) scored second place. Both of these tremendously talented student a cappella groups perform under the direction of Erin Hackel, instructor.
Mix was undefeated in competitions throughout 2013. They then traveled to London in January and made their international debut at the invitation of the Grammy-award-winning Swingle Singers.
Mix incorporates costumes, costume changes and choreography in its electric performances. The fresh, creative approach has quickly become a Mix trademark.
You can check out their winning style at Acapacalypse! on Friday, May 2, at the Auraria Campus King Center in the Concert Hall. Tickets are free.
