The Spring 2012 issue of Public Garden: The Journal of the American Public Garden Association  has an article, “Growing From the Rubble: A National Botanical Garden for Haiti,” about the workshop held last October in Port-au-Prince regarding the establishment of a national botanical garden to aid Haiti’s redevelopment after the devastating earthquake in January 2010.

Emmanuel Didier, instructor of Landscape Architecture, College of Architecture and Planning, was one of the international experts in attendance, and discussed botanic garden design. The guiding purpose of the workshop was to assess and coordinate the interests, resources, and capacity of the Haitian government, non-governmental organizations, and private partners to establish a national botanical garden in Haiti.
