Sonja Foss, professor of communication, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has won the National Communication Association’s 2012 Douglas W. Ehninger Distinguished Rhetorical Scholar Award.

This is among the highest awards in the field and is usually bestowed as a career capstone upon the most important, game-changing scholars. It honors scholars who have executed research programs in rhetorical theory, rhetorical criticism and/or public address studies.

Recipients must demonstrate intellectual creativity, perseverance, and impact on academic communities through multiple publications and presentations around a rhetorical topic or theme.
