Christopher NimsChristopher Nims, FAIA, associate professor adjunct of Architecture and director of Mentor and Internship Programs, received an Honor Award at the AIA Colorado Awards Gala in Keystone on Nov. 3.

The honor was presented to Nims on behalf of Tryba Architects. It is the highest design award presented by AIA Colorado was given to the firm for the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center dedicated in 2007. Nims originally started the project in 2001 with Gensler and Charles Gwathmey, FAIA of Gwathmey Siegel in New York. As the project’s consulting predesign architect, he later reprogrammed the $44M project to fit the reduced budget of $33M.

Nims now focuses on teaching, consulting and new assignments in the design community and the future of the college.
