Flames and molten iron lit up the Auraria Campus as part of the College of Arts and Media’s Iron Pour Performance. CU Denver students, faculty and alumni heated scrap iron to over 2,300 degrees and then poured it into molds created over the past year—creating beautiful metal art in a show of heat and fire.
The event kicked off Tuesday, March 8 with a visiting artist lecture from Wendy Croskrey, with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and concluded on Friday with the iron casting performance. Community members attending even had the opportunity to carve their own mold and have it filled by students. Check out some of our favorite shots from the event.
