The Veteran Student Organization (VSO), a student-run group at CU Denver, was selected by the Romney Campaign to host the Colorado Caucus Results Party Tuesday at the Tivoli Turnhalle.
Organizers of the private event reached out to the VSO which said it would be honored to host this and other candidates as part of their commitment to giving back.
“This is a huge honor regardless of one’s political affiliation,” said Cameron Cook, student advisor to the VSO. “Our service to our country doesn’t end with our time in the military; we’re grateful to have this opportunity to be involved.”
CU Denver students who have served and are active in VSO events/programs were given credentials required for admission to the private event. The visit by presidential candidate Romney provides a firsthand view of the political process.
The event begins at 7:30 p.m in the Tivoli Turnhalle. The Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) staff is working to make sure disruptions on campus are as minimal as possible, but due to increased security, you could find a door locked that’s normally opened. Signage throughout campus should alert you to any redirects, but be aware that a few entrances and lounges in the Tivoli will be closed beginning Tuesday at 6 a.m. Also, the east entrance into the Tivoli will be closed. Classrooms and modulars to the east of the Tivoli will remain accessible, as will all offices in the Tivoli.
RTD buses will run as normal and the media trucks will be staged by the Events Center. Others interested in watching nearby can check out a live video feed into the Tivoli Food Court.
