University of Colorado Denver’s College of Arts & Media (CAM) Records was recently named as an Independent Music Awards (IMA) Vox Populi Winner for the second consecutive year. CAM Records’ From These Words was selected as the College Record Label winner through the IMA, an awards program for independent artists and fans resulting in fan-selected winners. The album was chosen from submissions from over 70 countries on six continents.
“This award recognizing CAM Records‘ latest release is a testament to the highly talented emerging artists featured on the album and the wonderfully creative students who led the project,” said Storm Gloor, assistant professor of Music & Entertainment Industries Studies at CAM. “To win an award for the second consecutive year speaks volumes for our program and the caliber of students who are a part of our student-run record label.”
The IMA is an international program that promotes independent artists, labels and releases to more than 15 million music fans and industry insiders. More than 33,000 votes were cast at the online Vox Populi Jukebox on the IMA site. Nominees from more than 50 music genre and design categories were judged and in many cases, fan-selected winners were different than the winners chosen by the industry-judging panel which included Peter Gabriel, Roger Daltrey, Suzanne Vega, Keith Urban, George Jones and Clint Black, among others.

Now in its 9th year, the IMAs honor artists who broaden the definition of commercial success and represent the diversity of the global Indie scene. The program supports artists with previous major label releases as well as artists who have only self-released or appeared on indie labels.
