Fall Commencement honors more than 1,300 graduates
December 17, 2018
On Dec. 15, nearly 900 students brought their friends and family to the Colorado Convention Center downtown to celebrate an incredible life milestone: college graduation.
The morning celebration honored each graduate with the reading of individual names – a tradition that has become rare among large universities. A live stream of the event ran on the CU Denver Facebook page. Both attendees and other university community members joined the #CUDenverGrad conversation on Twitter and Instagram.
More than 1,300 students earned degrees this semester. The fall 2018 graduating class– which represents 18 nations – includes 853 undergraduates, 533 graduate students and 131 military-affiliated students.
During the ceremony, Professor of Chemistry Robert Damrauer, PhD, special assistant to the provost and associate vice chancellor for research, received a medal commemorating his 50 years of service to the university.
Graduating students now join the 94,000-strong CU Denver Alumni network, which stretches across 102 countries around the world.
